It is stated that Otokar refers to the first design of minibuses, which have been considered "Legend" in the field of line transportation since the 1970s, in the electric motor version of the series, e-CENTRO.
Otokar, one of the Koç Group companies, took its place in Busworld Turkey 2022 with its new vehicles added to its product family. Otokar participated in the Busworld Turkey 2022 Bus Industry and Sub-Industry International Specialization Fair, which was held for the 10th time this year, with its 5 vehicles, and expanded its product range with 6-meter Otokar CENTRO buses. Otokar CENTRO, which has diesel and electric versions, appeals to line minibus transportation and municipal/public bus transportation with different layout options. It was stated that Otokar's new design line was preserved in the diesel family, and the design of Otokar's round headlight model, which became a legend in the 1970s, was applied in the electric version of the family. It was emphasized that Otokar reached the widest product range in the industry by developing the bus family from 6 meters to 21 meters with the CENTRO series developed by its engineering and R&D teams.
“It Will Be Indispensable For Contemporary Cities”
It was stated that the 6.6-meter-long version of Otokar CENTRO was developed for standing passenger transportation for private public bus operators and municipalities. Pointing out that it has taken an important place in everyone's life with its minibuses since the 1960s, Otokar presented its CENTRO vehicles to the minibus market in two alternatives, 6 and 6.6 meters long.
Otokar Deputy General Manager H. Basri Akgül stated that Otokar continues to invest in a new vehicle model without slowing down, emphasizing that Otokar's line transportation vehicles are a legend in the field of urban public transportation in Turkey, and said that; “In the sector, so to speak, we have developed CENTRO in the highly anticipated segment. Pointing out that Europe is the target as well as Turkey, Akgül said that; "We have developed the most innovative vehicle of the 6 meter bus class in line with the expectations of users in our country and in Europe. It is stated that the 6.6 meter long version of Otokar CENTRO is an ideal public bus. Developed for public bus cooperatives and municipalities, Otokar CENTRO draws attention with its wide standing area. 14 standing passengers can be carried in the vehicle with 11 fixed and 6 folding seats. It is noted that while it can climb steep slopes without difficulty with its environment-friendly engine, which provides Euro 6 emission level, with its superior performance, it is not a burden to tradesmen and municipalities with its low operating costs.
“Zero Emissions, Quiet Traffic”
Otokar's new product family, CENTRO's electric model, e-CENTRO, stands out with its compact dimensions as an environmentally friendly and economical solution for historical areas, touristic cities with narrow streets and zero emission zones. It is emphasized that the electric motor of the 6.6-metre-long e-CENTRO, with a maximum power of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 1200 Nm, does not compromise its performance even on the steepest ramps. It is stated that the bus, which draws attention with its lightness, reduces the total cost of ownership of public transport operators with its low operating costs. The vehicle, which has a large and spacious interior thanks to the batteries placed on the floor, carries 32 passengers. It is stated that the 110 kW Li-ion NMC batteries of the bus are charged in 1.5 hours and offer a range of 200 km on a single charge. In addition, it is stated that thanks to the regenerative braking feature, 25 percent energy recovery is achieved from braking and deceleration in city traffic.
BUSWORLD 2022
In addition to the CENTRO product family, Otokar exhibited its electric bus family in different lengths from 6 meters to 18.75 meters for the first time at Busworld Turkey 2022.
It is stated that Otokar's 12-meter electric e-KENT bus has been tested by different bus companies and municipalities in many different European countries such as Italy, Spain, Germany and Romania in the past months and has gained great acclaim. It is emphasized that the 18.75 meter articulated version of the eco-friendly, zero-emission, 100% electric bus family e-KENT has been developed especially for metropolises with high passenger numbers. Articulated e-KENT stands out with its articulated structure that offers high maneuverability despite its length. Passengers travel comfortably in all seasons with the vehicle's 100 percent electric air conditioning. It is stated that Otokar offers different battery capacity options such as 350, 490, 560 kWh in the bellowed e-KENT in order to offer the most suitable solution for the changing needs of cities.
