Volvo Trucks Has Delivered The Largest Electric Truck Fleet Ever To DSV Logistics!

The fleet delivery of the "2024 International Truck of the Year" award-winning Volvo FH Electric model of Volvo Trucks, represented by the distributorship of Marubeni Distribution and Service Inc., was made to DSV Logistics. The delivery ceremony was held at ITU Fuat Külünk High Voltage Laboratory, which is Turkey's largest scale and one of the world's leading laboratories.

On this occasion, ITU Fuat Külünk High Voltage Laboratory hosted the delivery of an electric truck fleet for the first time.

A First in the Transportation Industry!

The first speaker of the delivery ceremony was Marubeni Distribution and Service Inc. While expressing his satisfaction with the cooperation established with DSV Logistics, General Manager Eşref Zeka mentioned about his future goals as follows; “Today's delivery is a first in the industry and part of the growth, but beyond that, it is a very valuable step towards our sustainability goals. I hope that our delivery will remind the entire logistics sector in terms of awareness, especially that electromobility is indispensable for the future.” In his speech, Eşref Zeka stated that this is a long journey and that the entire ecosystem and all stakeholders must act together with a common understanding. Emphasizing that this common understanding has been implemented with Marubeni, Volvo Trucks and DSV Logistics; Zeka completed his speech by thanking DSV Logistics for their trust in the Volvo Trucks brand, distributed by Marubeni Distribution and Service Inc.

Collaborating is Critical to Achieve Our Climate Goals!

Speaking at the ceremony, DSV Logistics CEO Ozan Önder talked about DSV's short and long-term goals and said that; “We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment in our operations. As a leading global logistics company, we are aware of our responsibility to take an active role in combating climate change and ensuring decarbonization in the logistics industry. Reducing our carbon emissions is at the heart of DSV's future ambition. We work with our industry partners across departments and countries to implement new initiatives and technologies that will support us as we strive to achieve our sustainability goals. This agreement with the Volvo Trucks brand, distributed by Marubeni Distribution and Service, is an important example of electric fleet replacement when the right commercial and environmental conditions are met. We believe that collaborating with energy suppliers and large companies such as Marubeni Distribution and Service and Volvo Trucks is critical to achieve our climate goals.” Önder concluded his speech by expressing his belief that this cooperation will be a symbol of transformation for our country and the logistics industry.

50% of Truck Sales Will Be Electric by 2030!

Attending the ceremony, Volvo Trucks International Senior Vice President Per-Erik Lindström, also took the floor and stated that they operate in approximately 130 countries with quality, safety and environmental awareness.

Lindström continued his speech with the following words; “Our goal is for 50% of all trucks we sell globally to be electric by 2030. Our electric trucks feature multiple axle configurations, variable battery configurations and total energy storage capacity for different applications and segments and can currently travel approximately 300 km on a single charge, and this range will increase further.”
